You are welcome to join Common Field, a series of conversations organized as part of the seminar Curating Architecture, taught by Ignacio G. Galán at The Barnard + Columbia Architecture Department.
The course foregrounds curatorial platforms as critical spaces and media for the discussion of architecture, both within the discipline and in conversation with larger publics. It considers how curatorial platforms probe architecture's boundaries, its methods, and its canons, and how they participate in the valorization and signification of diverse artifacts that concern both the discipline and the profession, as well as their histories. In a moment of radical destabilization of past disciplinary hierarchies and the forms of privilege that those have historically granted, these conversations will bring to the fore opportunities for new forms of inclusion and for new priorities to be shaped.
The lecture series features:
-Sean Anderson and Arièle Dionne-Krosnick, MoMA (October 30)
-Mpho Matsipa, African Mobilities (November 6)
-Paulo Tavares, Chicago Biennale (November 20)
-Setareh Noorani and Marina Otero, Het Nieuwe Instituut (December 4)
All lectures are Fridays, from 2:40-3:55 PM (EST). Use the following link and password to join:
