Approved Courses for the Majors & Minor
The Architecture Department provides studio, lecture, seminar, and project-based courses that can be counted toward the majors and minors in architecture. Courses offered by our department are often supplemented by courses taught at other schools, departments and programs at Columbia University such as The Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation (GSAPP), the Art History Departments at both Barnard College and Columbia University, and the Urban Studies Program at Barnard College. These courses are taken primarily to fulfill the lecture, seminar, and workshop requirements in the major.
Prior to the start of each semester, our department reviews all of the university's undergraduate course offerings for the upcoming semester and publishes a list of classes that may satisfy the architecture major and minor requirements. These lists are called our Program Planning Lists and they are typically released at our Program Planning Meetings.
Our Program Planning Lists are also uploaded to this page of our website as soon as they become available. If you have any questions about how to use them, please book an appointment with one of our faculty advisors.
